Huntington Beach, Calif. - Well into the second half of conference play, Cypress holds on to a share of first with a win over Golden West. The Chargers scored early and fast to beat Golden West 93-66. Freshman point guard Marissa Bravo scored a season high 14 points to go along with 6 steals and 4 assists.
An 18 point run early in the first half provided just enough confidence and cushion for the Chargers to run away with the game and a 27 point victory. Sophomore guard Ana Fakatou is just 6 points away from 1000 career points as she scored 16 against the Rustlers. Freshman guard Brae Butler scored a game high 17 points and 5 steals. Freshman point guard Corianne Felix was the fourth Charger in double digits with 14 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Freshmen forward Michelle Babin and Brandi Thomas scored a combined 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Chargers are headed back home for a big week as they face 6th place Irvine Valley. The Chargers hope to avenge their earlier loss to IVC, the last loss they had before going on a 6 game win streak. Cypress will face the 17th ranked Lasers at home, Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
