Cypress Can't Hold on to Lead and Fall to Riverside

Cypress, Calif. – It looked like business usual as the Chargers went into halftime up 9, but fell in the second half to lose to 5th ranked Riverside 99-94. Mia Seagraves put up 14 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds in the effort to maintain sole control of 1st place in conference
The game changed leads several times in the first half, but the Chargers came out on top up by 9, 50-41 at halftime. Foul trouble limited several Chargers' minutes on the floor and the lead slipped away in the second half result in the Tiger's win. "It was a great game from a fan's perspective," said head coach Margaret Mohr, "I'm obviously dissapointed with the loss and the foul problems didn't help, but give all the credit to Riverside for shooting well and taking us out of our game." Sophomore forward Rosalyn Omoruyi lead the Chargers in scoring with 28 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Sophomore guard Brittany Imaku contributed 19 points and 7 assists while freshman forward Ana Fakatou put in 13 points.
This loss puts the Chargers tied for 1st in the Orange Empire Conference with Riverside with four conference games remaining. Cypress will look to hold their lead when they face Saddleback Wednesday at 5:30 at home. The Chargers last met Saddleback January 14th and won 71-46.
