Mission Viejo, Calif. – The Chargers entered into Friday’s game in a must win situation with the ability to pull themselves up to third with a shot at playoffs if they could win. Cypress could not achieve what they set out for trailing most of the way in the 59-73. Sophomore guard Channing Lewis was a defensive spark off the bench for Cypress.

Cypress took control to start the game jumping out to a seven point lead. The Gauchos came right back at Cypress with a 12-0 run to take the lead. Saddleback would not give the lead back holding on to an eight point lead to end the first half. The Gauchos continued to extend their lead in the second half going up as much as twenty-two over Cypress. The Chargers showed some life toward the end of the game going on an 8-2 run but it would not be enough as Cypress lost the pivotal game by fourteen.

Sophomore guard Brae Butler led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Sophomore guard Corianne Felix finished with 13 points and 3 assists. Marissa Bravo and Saw-Ann Bryan combined for 16 points and 8 rebounds.

The Chargers finish conference 7-7 in fifth place. This marks the last game for the Chargers' 2007 season. This marks the first year since head coach Margaret Mohr’s first season at Cypress (1998-99) that the Chargers will not be invited to playoffs. This is also the first losing season Cypress has had since 2000-01.
