Cypress, Calif. – Cypress had not played an overtime game all season until their last home game Wednesday night. After upsetting the second place Gauchos earlier in the season, Cypress seemed poised to do it again until missed free-throws and a lackluster overtime got in the way losing 74-68. Cypress was led by sophomore forward Saw-Ann Bryan in her final home game as a Charger picking up a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The Chargers held the lead for most of the first half but Saddleback stayed close and finished the first half in a 30-30 tie foreshadowing events to come. Cypress took control to start the second half jumping out to a 12 point lead at the 14 minute mark. Saddleback came back and chipped away coming all the way back and tying it at 51. The two went back and forth from there and the Gauchos took the lead at 64-63 with 16 seconds remaining. In Cypress’s last possession, Bryan had the ball and was fouled. She made one of two free-throws tying the game at 64 as the buzzer went off ending regulation. Cypress was plagued by missed free-throws all game going 12 for 27 from the stripe, a dismal 44 percent.

Cypress faltered in overtime letting Saddleback get ahead while the Chargers attempted comebacks. The comeback never came getting outscored 10-4 in the extra period for the six point loss.
