Chargers Earn a Comeback Win over Cerritos

Cerritos, Calif. - Cypress started slow and trailed by as much as 15 points in the second half before coming back to beat Cerritos 59-56. This win avenges last year's home loss to Cerritos in this annual pre-Thanksgiving matchup. The comeback was sparked by freshman guard Stephanie Lewis who came off the bench to score 12 points, 6 of those points being key three-pointers in the second half comeback run.

The Chargers came out slow and ended the first half with a 5 point deficit. The condition worsened in the second half and were trailing by as much as 15 before coming back and finally taking the lead with 1:24 left in the game. Cypress was led by sophomore forward Ana Fakatou who led all scorers with 20 points and 19 rebounds. Freshman forward Sheila Ho-Ching grabbed 12 rebounds while freshman point guard Corianne Felix contributed 7 assists. Freshmen Brandi Thomas and Brae Butler combined for 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Cypress now looks forward to hosting the opening round of the Lady Charger Classic. The Chargers will face off with 4-1 Rio Hondo, ranked 11th in the South. The teams will face off at 6:00 pm, Friday December 2nd at Cypress for the Charger's first home game. The tournament begins at 2:00 pm with Palomar and L.A. Harbor.
