Valencia, Calif. – Sophomore guard Niann Hill hit a 3 point shot with 4 seconds remaining in the game to win the game for Cypress 79-78. "It was great to see Niann hit that basket, she's such a team player she deserves it," said Cypress head coach Margaret Mohr. Hill’s 3 point shot capped off a comeback run after being down by 5 with 46 seconds remaining and two starters had fouled out. Freshman forward Ana Fakatou had the assist on Hill’s shot and was the team high scorer with 17 points.

It was an uphill battle for Cypress throughout the entire game as sophomore starting center Paula Reed was out most of the first half with a bloodied nose and the Chargers found themselves down 10 at half. Sophomore guards Brittany Imaku and Ruta Autele fouled out in the remaining minute after combining for 16 points and 8 steals. "Although we played an up and down game, I was pleased with our 'never say die' attitude," Mohr said. Sophomore forward Rosalyn Omoruyi hit a second straight double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore guard Mia Seagraves contributed 12 points on the night. Wednesday’s game was freshman forward Brianna James’ debut in a Cypress basketball uniform just joining the team after going to the state tournament with the Cypress volleyball team. She produced 6 points.

Cypress has almost a week off to prepare for two games in a row at Ventura. The Chargers will be facing Oxnard at Ventura College on Tuesday, December 21st at 5:00 pm.
