Chargers Start De Anza Tournament with a Win

Cupertino, Calif. - Cypress hopes this is the beginning of another win streak as they defeated Consumnes River 74-55. Cypress came out firing in the first half shooting 53% from the field and ending the half with a 21 point victory. Consumnes River closed the lead down to as close as 10 before Cypress charged back to win the game by 19. Freshman guard Brae Butler had an all-around night scoring 18 points, stealing the ball 6 times, and notching 6 assists.
The Chargers had an 11-game win streak before losing to 3rd ranked Pasadena last week. Now the Chargers hope this is the beginning of a new streak as they try to repeat last year's tournament championship. All the Chargers got time on the floor for a team win. Sophomore forward Ana Fakatou hit a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes. Freshman forward Sheila Ho-Ching also hit double digit scoring with 10 points going 56% from the field. Freshmen Anureet Dhaliwal and Brandi Thomas combined for 14 points.
Cypress will now move on to the second round of the Mike Gervasoni Classic facing off with Sequioas at 7:00 pm at De Anza college.
