Chargers Hand Porterville another Loss to Move on to Quarterfinals

Los Altos Hills, Calif. – Porterville has only two losses this season, and Cypress can claim responsibility for both as the Chargers beat the Pirates 70-56. Sophomore guard Mia Seagraves led the Chargers with 14 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. The last time Porterville faced Cypress was the championship game of the Lady Charger Classic where they entered the game undefeated but left with one defeat as the Chargers won 90-64.
Sophomore guard Brittany Imaku also had 14 points with 6 assists and 9 rebounds. The guards' complete games were supported by two forwards with double digit scoring as Rosalyn Omoruyi had 16 and Ana Fakatou had 12. Omoruyi also notched a double-double with 11 rebounds. Freshman forward Brianna James crashed the boards with a game and career-high 17 rebounds. The Chargers came out to an early 6-0 lead but the Pirates came back and were only down by two at half-time. "I was pleased that we withstood their runs," said head coach Margaret Mohr, "They're a quality team that's tough to beat twice."
The Chargers’ win over Porterville moves them on to the quarterfinal game of the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Classic as they face 5th ranked Foothill College at De Anza Wednesday night at 4:00 pm.
